In addition to my work as a journalist, I am also the founder of the Beer to the Rescue charity campaign benefiting the Lupus Foundation of Southern California. Established shortly after I received my lupus diagnosis in 2015, Beer to the Rescue has raised more than $125,000 for the LFSC thanks to the efforts of craft breweries who regularly brew specialty beers and hold events to raise funds for the organization through this campaign. To date, Beer to the Rescue has worked with more than 50 breweries and held over 100 events, but we are always interested in adding to those numbers.
